dIRE tRAITS – Carlton Theatre - Teignmouth - 28th June 2008
Remember ‘Sultans of Swing’, ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and ‘Money for Nothing’, the definitive rock anthems of the ‘80’s by one of the greatest guitar bands ever, Dire Straits? Now you can hear and enjoy again all your favourite Mark Knopfler songs passionately recreated by the UK’s most musically authentic tribute, dIRE tRAITS. The Devon-based band, formed in 2001, has enjoyed seven busy years honing its live concert sound and the six-piece line-up, comprising lead, rhythm and bass guitars, keyboards, saxophones and drums, constantly strives to bring out every musical nuance of the rich Dire Straits repertoire.
dIRE tRAITS specialises in reproducing not just the familiar singles versions of the songs but also the full live concert versions from the Dire Straits’ stadium gigs of the ‘80’s including the ‘On the Night’ and ‘Alchemy’ world tours. These dynamic ‘touring’ arrangements are bursting with musical colour and are as representative of Dire Straits in its heyday as the iconic pop videos that many people remember seeing on TOTP and MTV.
The band makes the short journey to Teignmouth to give you the best of Dire Straits in a polished set. Catch them at the Carlton Theatre on Saturday 28th June 2008.
